New Years Eve in PM

We all met up at Cantina Habarneros - Lyn and John had just arrived about an hour before.....Robin says.....whaaaat????

....these 4 share a condo at Playasol this year.......












at 11:30 we went with Gwen and Robin to the beach, where I had a lovely swim, dried out before I put my dress back on.....just in time for the fireworks at midnight. Lovely way to start the new year!!!

New friends and old!

We had the pleasure of meeting some new friends this year!! Tania and Mark are from Kamloops (they run a fishing lodge there in the summer) and did what so many do - fall in love with Puerto Morelos!!!!













Then Tania's Mom, Karen, came for a visit and lo and behold.....the 3 of them have decided to buy 2 houses here.....!!!









They came up see our casa and will probably buy in Villas Morelos 2 next year, so they can get 2 houses side by side. We got together at the Cantina on their last night in town....and met Jim and Dana, who also live in Villas 2.











Of course the band was playing.........












so we were all up dancing...........! It was a fun night - see you in the fall!!!











Jan. 1st was Sharon's birthday, so we managed to convince her to go out for dinner on New Years to celebrate. Valorie joined us and we had a lovley dinner at Las Palmeras.











Back at their house, Les presented this beautiful orange cake with chocolate icing and fresh strawberries on top!

Christmas eve and Day.....

Christmas eve day began with Goyo's annual Peace Walk on the beach........................











and ended with Robin and Gwen arriving in PM for 2 weeks! We had an amazing dinner at L'Oazis - thanks, Martine - and then the weary travellers headed to their condo for a good sleep!












Christmas Day we all had a lovely brunch at Casa Caribe, courtesy of Cat, Chef Pablo and the Little Mexican Cooking School. Wonderful Eggs Benny, Huevos Rancheros, fresh fruit and juice and even mimosas - what a lovely way to start the day!










Then it was off to the beach for a great swim in the Caribbean sea, followed by treats and drinks with another gang of friends, including Mary (in her Xmas t shirt) and Linda.

Finally, we ended up at Sharon and Les's, where Taffy kept us all entertained.........













He will be a year in February, and is just the sweetest, little guy. Mama Sharon's baby, for sure......










Les put on quite the spread.......home made sausage rolls, meat and cheese dish, Scotch eggs, veggies and cheeses, Welsh cakes.........wow!!!!! Lety brought a yummy pasta dish.....










and I brought my killer Caesar salad, so we all ate well, laughed, shared stories and spent a wonderful Christmas evening!

Posada on Dec. 23

Lety and Stan held the annual Posada (the traditional "room at the inn" event) at their home 2 streets over. Lots of friends and families in attandance.











First we all held candles and sang a song at a neighbours house which asked if there was room at the inn. Sadly, the neighbour sang back, we have no room at the inn........











So we all moved to Lety's - where some sang the song on the outside...........










and the rest of us sang the song on the inside saying - yes! we have room, please come in....!! Then the traditional fruit punch was served to all, after being cooked for 24 hours....yummy!












then of course there was the pinata.........










.....all the kids smashed away..........













Lety did some serious damage.........













.....and your trusty blogger knocked it out of the park.....well, got all the goodies out for the kids, anyway.........











the rest of the evening was lots of good food, visits with friends, music and even dancing, but all the kids definitely stole the show. Thanks Stan and Lety for another wonderful night!!!

Anniversary and Cancun....

Miki and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Chimichurri's - the finest meat in town.......and a violinist walked in off the street and played for us - now THERE'S a first in Puerto Morelos!!









We had a lovely dinner.........












and had a great surprise when Jill and Diane joined us - made the evening even more special!!!











On the way home we stopped in at the grand opening of the newest restaurant (same place, new name) behind Mayan Riviera Properties on the beach. Welcome back, Miguel and family!!!











Next day we bussed into the Plaza las Americas to do some shopping.....this carousel is set up in the solarium part of the mall. Must be pricey - only one family road it in over 3 hours. The mall has doubled in size since last year.....wow........place is amazing!













This little train was running around too.....such fun for kids......!














Christmas decorations everywhere.....could be any mall in Canada...........















.....and of course SANTA - with his rather burly looking elf.....LOL! We had lunch in our favourite place - Sanborn's lounge - shopped way too long, and then bussed home again. Lovely day!
