Jason in Parksville

Visit from Saltspring
Our dear friend Linda came for a visit and overnight last week. We spent lots of time talking, laughing, watching hockey (of all things) and eating!!! We took Linda to the Little Qualicum Cheeseworks, which she enjoyed, but sadly had no goat or sheep cheese......
Miki and Linda with no flash...................
Miki and Linda with flash.....see you next summer dear Linda!!!!
Au revoir...for now!
Our wonderful house sitters from last winter, Murielle and Mario, were over for dinner just before he took off back to Grande Prairie for work, and a week later she followed.
It was an evening full of camera discoveries....they both got new cameras and left us their great Canon.....merci!!!!
All the cats were very attached to these 2, but Chiik especially was very bonded with Mario - here is is boxing on Mario's lap.....
We had a fun dinner......................
and we will miss them both..............
the Boyz having fun............
....more boxing, cat style..............
Sitges got lots of cuddles that night, too, but Dax pretty much slept through the whole visit.....yawn.
But wait - we will see Murielle in Puerto Morelos on November 1st for 5 months, and Mario mid December for a month. So see you both again soon..............:-)

racing and home again
Stayed with and had lunch with Mary Lois, here showing off her snazzy new glasses....!
Picked up the kids again on Wednesday, taking Jonah to a fun race put on by their school. His grade ones and twos waiting for their turn.
Both kids attend Ruth King Elementary in Langford, and the shirt says it all - Ruth King ROCKS!!!
here he comes somewhere in that mass of kids........
waiting in line to get his ribbon and freezie and off we go to Tai Kwon Do, where both Jonah and Vanessa are doing classes.
Back home again, and a great surprise - Mario is here for a couple of weeks visit from Grande Prairie.
They prepared a fabulous dinner - 3 inch steaks that you could cut with a fork.....and we had a lovely evening together at the home where Murielle is house sitting.
victoria fun...
The day after our lovely dinner in PV, I headed to Vic for some routine medical stuff. Got to take advantage of the sun and some time to myself and walk along the Dallas Road waterfront.
Love this walkway and beach...
and out to the point......
a gorgeous garden in the inner harbour.....
On Tuesday I picked up the kids from school, met Jutta and we all went to Vanessa's vaulting practise. This is Queen, who they usually use, but today's session was on Rambler, a smaller black and white who is learning to be a good vaulting horse.
In between sessions on the horse in the paddock, the kids practise jumps, handstands and gym in the barn. That is Vanessa standing straight up on her hands on top of the practise horse.
Heading up the wall to do a handstand.....
the day was alternately rainey and sunny, and in between we got to see this wonderful rainbow!!!!!
Here are 3 of the team (Nessa in the middle) trying out a move before they get on the horse.
and then ON the horse......
amazing balance and coordination these kids have....on a moving target, yet!!!
Nessa loves to vault - she has done 2 national competitions this year and done very well.
Jonah got into the act of playing in the gym area too.......
and this is beautiful Rambler - check out the one very blue eye - other is the usual dark brown. Oh, and punk black lipstick......very sweet horse.
Fur and friends.....
