Lake visits

We spent an afternoon showing ML our 2 closest lakes. This is Spider Lake, a small, lovely lake with nice beach area and picnic spots.

This is Horne Lake, a large, deep lake with wonderful camping sites (if you're into that sort of thing) and of course the Horne Lake Caves are here where you can do serious caving, rappelling and exploring.

It was a sunny but cool day, so no toe dips in the lake today.....

But Miki had fun hucking some rocks.

This is another shot of Spider Lake - sorry they are not in order, but sometime Blogger won't let me move things around.....!

A night out!

The Girls went out on the town (Nanaimo) for an evening of fun.

First we went to Gina's Mexican for dinner - good food, great company!

Then off to Level Two - very attractive bar in the city, and altho we thought we were going to see a drag show, turns out they were cancelled long ago, so we had soft jazz and drinks on the comfy sofas!

Some people just can't keep their hands to themselves......:-)

Mary Lois visits!

Lunch at the Final Approach restaurant at the Qualicum Airport was one of our site seeing trips with Mary Lois.

Then off to the Qualicum Cheeseworks to sample cheese, wine and say hi to all the animals.

Special visit to Sarah, ML's friend Lind's cow.....she is somewhere out there...hi Sarah!

The next day it was off for fish and chips at the Ship and Shore in Deep Bay. Yummy as always....!

Happy Birthday!!!

It was Gladys's Birthday party on Sat. night at Lefty's in Qualicum.

Gladys and Sandy share a birthday laugh.

Janice and Gladys were all smiles.

Muriel and Maggie pay close attention to the specials of the day!

Mary Lois and Kathy enjoyed the great food and company!

Camp Moorecraft

Saturday Mary Lois and Miki arrived in PV, and we all went to Camp Moorecroft to honour the final day it is open and to hope that the TLC will be successful in purchasing the property and keeping the long history of a wonderful kids summer camp alive.

Right on the ocean, there are great swimming areas, cute cabins, a craft house, a dining hall, a boathouse, and a forest chapel.

Lovely wooded paths wander around the property.

Moorecroft has been providing summer camp experiences for kids for many years, and hopefully will continue to do so.

R & R

Maggie, Ingrid and I went off to Nanaimo and area to do some exploring. First we went to the Labyrinth on the mountain.

We all did our walks, sorted out our issues and left feeling refreshed and peaceful.

Next stop was Westwood Lake, which has a wonderful walking path around it as well. Motor free, it would be a lovely place to swim in the summer, with lots of nice picnic areas and swimming docks.

It was a nice sunny day so we enjoyed sitting on the beach and soaking up the sun.

Rathtrevor

Oh my, true love - an arbutus tree, left, and a fir tree on the right. Grew together and support each other through thick and thin! These beauties were seen at Rathtrevor Park when Ingrid and I went for a long walk along the beach and through the forest.

Wish I knew if these were edible....they were beautiful!

Ingrid on the forest path!

Oooooo......that Daf has been busy again. Lookit the nice blue porch. Next summer it will be a nice wood deck on top of the cement, but this will be easy to clean and look at until then.
