Newest member of the family.....

Ok, so she recovered....so we called her Milagro (miracle).....

turns out she has a BIG personality, is smart, funny, talkative and full of energy...

Amazing black and white markings, including white feet with black pads......

Milagro and Sarela get to know each other, and end up playing together.....

Yup.....she's a talker.......

she loves her Canadian SPCA house...we brought some down for Diane and borrowed one back for Milagro to play and sleep in.....

She loves to watch all the feral cats outside......

And she is learning that to be a Canadian cat, she will have to learn to watch hockey and figure skating...

She does have her calm moments.....not many at only 4 months...

and like all kittens, just crashes wherever she is  when she needs to sleep.....

Spay and Neuter Clinic, March 2013

Another clinic comes to town...loyal volunteers set up all the equipment

Animals start arrivng at 8 am...cats are done first as they take longer to get over their anaesthetic...

Here, they are weighed, anethestized and shaved in prep for the surgery.....

As each animal comes off the operating table, they go to their own box or mat where someone is always with them until they come to and are judged ready to go home by the vets...

some volunteers do innoculations, tick removal and nail clipping while they are out cold....

And the cats start coming to the cat recover area.....

cats do not close their eyes when they are put out, so we have to keep them warm and put drops in their eyes every few minutes to keep them from drying out.....

Owners join the volunteers in monitoring their babies as they come out of the grog....

Vets check each animal during recovery to make sure they are ok.....

Dear Roz was there from Sacbe with her newborn rescue pups, nursing them every hour...in between caring for recovering dogs.

The loyal cat recovery volunteers...with our charges.......we put drops in their eyes, clip their nails and remove any ticks...happily cats don't get many ticks. 26 cats and 54 dogs done this day alone....the wonderful vets work until every animal is done.

And then there was this last little girl who took forever to wake up......didn't know if she was going to make it, but she did......! Rule #1...don't go home from a clinic with a new animal....but oh dear, I fell in love with her and took her home...:-)

Sarela....a foster for the winter.

Meet Sarela....she is one of Diane's many rescue dogs, who we have known for a couple of years. She was hit by a car and her leg never really healed properly. So she is a 3 legged dog, as that bent leg is completely useless to her....plus she isn't very well socialized, so we took her on to give her some tlc....

those 3 legs didn't stop her getting on the chaise for naps.....

Sarela's first bath with us...she has a smelly skin condition, too, so regular baths really help..

Put kids t shirts on her to keep her from scratching and so she didn't get sunburned...here she is in her first car ride....settled right into the back seat, no problem....

OMG...her first time on a beach...what is all this white stuff.....???

Beach.....I like the beach, Aunty Daf.....!!! Can we come again....???

Boy, that was exhausting, but so much fun........

You can see that Sarela has settled in very nicely to living IN a home...good girl!!

Yalku....ahhhh.....Gwen, Robin, Pat and Linda are here again for a visit, and off to Yalku we go!

Linda and Pat get ready to snorkel.....

Miki, Gwen and Robin do up their jackets and put on the sunscreen.....

The sculptures at Yalku are almost worth the admission alone....

This beauty ponders the sea as you snorkel past......

Everyone in the water at last.....

Happy snorkellers.....!

Snorkelling was followed by lunch at our favourite spot, but no pics this time....:-(

The cats of Puerto at Casa del Sol y Luna

Always from 9 - 14 cats eat at our house twice a day....

We put out small piles and then the rest in a large bowl at their feeding station
The "feeding station" - dog bowl (don't tell them) inside tote on a wooden platform....ain't fancy, but it stays dry....

But there are always ones that need to be spayed or neutered, so we trap them.....

....take them to a great vet, Dr. Guillermo, who does the job and they come back to us sound asleep.....

They are kept covered, so they are warm and don't freak out when they wake up....

and they spend overnight in our shower to sleep off the anaesthetic and recover.....
